Mount Warren Park – Suburb Profile

Mount Warren Park, a residential suburb of about 5600 people, is immediately south of Beenleigh and bordered on its east and south by the Albert River. It is formed around a once prominent mill named after William Warren, one of the principal sugar planters in the Albert River district recorded in the Annual Report of the Inspector of Distilleries in 1871. Warren established the Noyea plantation in 1867.

Mount Warren’s northern border is about 600 metres from the Beenleigh railway station, making it a good site for residential development. The Mount Warren estate (1974) began around Rochester Drive, moving south and west during the next 15 years. A neighbourhood shopping centre was opened on Rochester Drive, and the Mount Warren Park primary school (1981) is a short distance west. Windaroo primary school, in the south of the suburb, was opened in 1992, serving the adjoining suburb which was named after the Windaroo sugar plantation, also managed by William Warren.

The Mount Warren Park golf course is to the east, bordering the Albert River. A sports complex is next to the shopping centre at the corner of Rochester Road and Mount Warren Boulevard. Mount Warren is the picturesque setting for the suburb of Mount Warren Park which can be found near Beenleigh.

The median income of residents of Mount Warren Park is close to the figure for the region. Higher income families reside in the more recent suburbs of Windaroo and Bannockburn, proceeding south along the Beaudesert Road. Many self-employed people have moved into the area due to the convenience of having Brisbane close by, not to mention the great golfing lifestyle the neighbourhood offers. The suburb features a high school, primary school and shopping centre, with the largest major commercial centre at Beenleigh. Units and townhouses represent a small part of Mount Warren Park’s residential property stock, however their values have also grown in recent times.
