Edens Landing – Suburb Profile

Edens Landing, a residential suburb on the south side of the Logan River, is three km north-west of Beenleigh and 30 km south-east of central Brisbane. It was formed in 1985 by severances from its neighbours, Bethania and Holmview, and was named after a ferry owner who operated on the Logan River in the 1860s. The railway station, which is on the south coast line, was installed and named in about 1985.

Edens Landing was developed in stages, beginning with a Leighton Properties estate. The south-east corner remained unbuilt nearly 20 years after the first houses. The main thoroughfare is Castile Crescent, on which is found a small local shopping centre and the primary school (1997). There are numerous neighbourhood reserves and a retirement village. In contrast to Bethania near the Logan River, Edens Landing is elevated.

In 2001 Edens Landing and neighbouring Holmview had the most youthful population of that part of Gold Coast City, a median age of 28 compared with 32. Seventy percent of families had children.

Housing consist of a mixture of freestanding houses, duplexes and units, with a limited amount of vacant land available. Nexus Forest is one of the more prestigious locations, and offers views across Moreton Bay. Bella Vista Heights is another residential development with mountain views, offering opportunities for owner/occupiers and investors alike.

The location of Edens Landing in the Brisbane-Gold Coast growth corridor means it enjoys easy access to both these metropolitan hubs via the Pacific Motorway. It is also connected to both Brisbane and the Coast by electric rail. Educational opportunities for young families include the Edens Landing primary school and a private Lutheran primary school is located in neighbouring Bethania.
